A Move Ahead Security Consulting
Founder & Principal Consultant
James McLain brings more than 35 years of law enforcement, school safety, criminal investigation, and public safety training experience to A Move Ahead Security Consulting. As a law enforcement officer and certified instructor, he has dedicated his career to helping organizations identify vulnerabilities, strengthen preparedness efforts, and protect the people they serve. He has served on the crisis intervention team, which allowed for mitigating risks in educational settings.
His experience includes school safety, emergency preparedness, active assailant response, threat assessment, domestic violence investigations, crisis management, and community policing. James is passionate about helping houses of worship and educational institutions create practical plans that save lives and reduce confusion during emergencies.
He holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Coppin State University and maintains instructor certification through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. He is also certified in Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) and has completed specialized training in school safety, domestic violence, child protection, crisis response, and investigative techniques.
Through his consulting practice, Mr. McLain partners with houses of worship, faith-based organizations, private schools, public school systems, and community organizations to develop practical Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) that help leaders prepare for and respond to a wide range of threats and emergencies.
